Norway Red Grapes

Norway Red (Original number, ES-2-4-7) ES 283 x ES 193 Bred by Elmer Swenson in Osceola, Wisconsin. A sister of St. Croix.

A blue grape for red wine, similar in appearance to it’s sister St. Croix, Norway Red is said to be somewhat hardier with better wine quality than it’s sibling. Hardy to at least -40° F. Female flowered, so plant it near other varieties to pollinate it. Train Norway Red to canes to improve crop and reduce the high vigor.
