We are now accepting cuttings orders for 2009/10!

~ Order Infromation and Shipping ~ Seedless Table Grapes ~ Seeded Table Grapes ~

~ For the Adventurous ~ Wine Grapes ~ Grapes for Breeding ~

CUTTING SEASON  The main cutting season is from early January to as late as early June, if stock is available.  Though it isn't recommended, a few people have started cuttings as late as August and held the potted vines over until the following spring, to be planted out then.  See "Notes From My Blog".

WHEN IS MY ORDER SHIPPED?   Cuttings for orders are set aside in order. However, if you place an order that contains varieties that have to come from another source, the order will be delayed until all the varieties in the order are  available.  I do everything myself and in the past I could fill orders as I made cuttings. HOWEVER, if the weather becomes warm too early, I have to  spend all my time getting cuttings into cold storage and can't ship until that is done. If that happens, I may not be able to start shipping until mid to late February, if not later. If you must have  your order within a certain time frame, please be sure there are alternate varieties listed in the event not all are ready on time.  PLEASE be patient about your order.

NO INTERNATIONAL ORDERS.  I DO NOT SHIP OUTSIDE THE U.S.      I CAN direct you to sources in Canada and some parts of Europe.

PLEASE LIST ALTERNATE VARIETIES IN CASE ANY ARE IN SHORT SUPPLY.   The online list will be kept updated as to availability as much as possible to keep customers informed.  If no alternatives are listed on the order, something that is as close to the ordered variety as possible will be sent.  If an order includes an out-of-stock variety and the customer won't accept an alternate, there will be a $5.00 fee on the refund.  If you aren't sure, send an e-mail or call.

NON-LISTED VARIETIES.      If you are looking for a new variety you have heard of, if it's not on my list, I don't have it to sell.  If you are seeking something I have listed in the past, I may have some available, but ASK before ordering such

STORING ORDERS.    Your cuttings are packed so YOU can store them several weeks at 32 to 45 degrees (0 to 7 degrees Celcius), until rooting time.  Grape cuttings travel well, even in cold weather, having no tender roots to freeze.  I DO NOT HOLD ORDERS.  When an order is ready, I have to ship it as I don't have space to hold it unless you want to pay an extra fee.varieties.

SEEKING RARE VARIETIES.  I can suggest places for you to look, but if you want me to search for rare or very unusual varieties, it will cost extra.

DILEMMA tm When a breeder crosses two varieties, he hopes the offspring will combine all the best of each parent. In 2006 I found a selection from a cross of Esprit x Himrod that combined almost all the best of each parent. The clusters are large, well shaped, handsome, with neutral but good flavor, and the vines are very vigorous and productive and appear to be healthy. Except that the grapes have seeds. In the past, seeds wouldn't have been a problem, but now the consumers want seedless grapes. BUT the combination MIGHT also have given a good wine grape, and wine grapes don't need to be seedless.

So what do you do with a grape that's essentially perfect save for one trait, and MIGHT be a dual purpose grape as well? In this case, I decided to name the grape for what it is, a DILEMMA and let you, the customer, see what it will do for you.
The parentage, Esprit x Himrod, means the vine should be hardy to at least -15 F, and could be hardy to -20 or a little more. The fruit ripens about two weeks after Himrod. The vine shows signs of having much of Esprit's disease resistance, and the clusters are much tougher than Himrod. Prune it to canes as it has enough vigor to carry a good size crop. And let me know how it performs for you. Limit of 10 cuttings per customer.

ORDERING AND SHIPPING INFORMATION
5-40 cuttings of a variety, $1.30 each  There is a minimum of 5 cuttings per variety, per order.Varieties cannot be combined to get a lower rate.

NOTE:  Wholesale is in increments of ten. PLEASE email or call to check availability before plecing wholesale orders.

     210-up of a variety-$.80 each

These prices do NOT include royalties for patented varieties - add $.25 PER CUTTING for royalties.  PATENTED VARIETIES ARE MARKED "Pat." AFTER THE NAME OF THE VARIETY and highlighted in ORANGE.  Prices will be higher if I have to buy from other suppliers.

Wholesale Buyers:  If you want varieties I have to order from another grower, it may be necessary to increase the cost.  Check before you order.

Handling and Shipping:

Retail orders     $9.00 for the first 20 cuttings, $7.00 for each additional 20, or part.

Wholesale orders    Postage (or UPS fee) plus $35.00 or 6% of the order, whichever is larger.

Pickup orders   NO Discount.  My time is limited and pickup orders take more time, so the fee is the same even if you come to pick up the order.

FULL PAYMENT MUST ACCOMPANY RETAIL ORDERS, or a 50% Deposit with advance Wholesale Orders, with the remaining payment due before the order is shipped.   Pay by  CASH, CHECK, or MONEY ORDER!

I DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS AT THE MOMENT NOR PURCHASING ORDERS.

Rooting Instructions are posted on this website.  Printed copies are available for $2.00 with order, $3.00 and a self addressed, stamped envelope, by themselves.  Otherwise, The Grape Grower contains COMPLETE propagation and growing instructions.

Replacement Policy     It is easy to root most grape cuttings, IF THE DIRECTIONS ARE FOLLOWED PROPERLY, so there must be tangible evidence, in my opinion, that the failure was due to something that happened prior to the customer receiving the cuttings, before I will consider replacements.  This may sound "hardnosed", but as a one-man business, I've yet to come up with anything more practical.  There is more written about this in the "Notes From My Blog" on this website.

Rooted Vines   I sell only unrooted cuttings.  Putting roots on them is up to you. That's why we provide instructions.

Custom rooting is available from:

Notes:  While "Orange Muscat" sounds like an intriguing grape, I do NOT recommend it. It is a wine type, not a table grape, and the berries crack and rot second only to Muscat Blanc, the worst in my collection. It only grows well in a few dry climates. Also, "Orange Muscat" refers to the orange-peel like flavor. A much better muscat table grape is Muscat Hamburg.
